User Roles & Permissions
User Roles & Workspace Management
Dash provides granular access controls to ensure your projects, datasets, and layouts remain secure while still facilitating seamless collaboration among engineering and economics teams.
Dataset Permissions
When you upload a dataset to the Home → Datasets directory, you become the Owner of that data.
- Owner: Has full control over the dataset. Owners can edit the data schema, upload replacement files, delete the dataset entirely, and grant access to other users.
- View Access: Users granted View Access can connect to the dataset within the Data module to build visual layouts, run Decline Curve Analysis, or execute FDP schedules against it. They cannot modify or overwrite the source data.
- Edit Access: Users granted Edit Access can append new rows or replace the dataset file, but they cannot delete the dataset entirely.
To manage these permissions, navigate to the Datasets directory, select your dataset, and use the permissions management panel to add team members.
Layout Sharing
Visual dashboards created in the Data module (Layouts) are private to the creator by default.
To share a Layout with your organization:
- Open the Layout Manager in the Data module.
- Click the Share icon next to the saved layout.
- Assign Read-Only or Edit permissions to specific users or teams.
Note: If a user has access to a shared Layout but does not have permission to view the underlying Dataset, the visuals powered by that dataset will display an error for that specific user.
